of Works, Barrels and Pigeonholes

Just one week before Brenda departs for London!

She wanted to eat Asian Cuisine, so I was all over ladyironchef and hungrygowhere, trying to find some nice, small restaurant that we haven't tried before. That kind of failed since everything was a bit pricey.

I was in camp at that time, and there happened to be an 8 days beside me! I flipped it and voila, this little restaurant surfaced in the "Where to Eat" section:

Work & Barrel @ 13 Duxton Hill.

It serves local asian food / fusion food.
Such a quaint location, and a short walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT / Chinatown MRT.
We were there for Brunch, so it was just the Brunch menu that was available.

Oops! Not the clearest image ever - got the focus a bit off.

The food is mainly Asian cuisine (local), like Chicken curry, Crispy Pork, Beef Redang, Asian Coleslaw, and there's an American Breakfast set (quite pricey).

So we decided to order TzeChar with one plate of Nasi Lemak rice for all.

Didn't try these though...

Pek with her yummy Omelette which she shared with us. This is a pretty regular-tasting egg dish, nothing spectacular.

'
Our Nasi Lemak Rice as the base - this only cost about $2! The spices here are great :)

Chicken Curry. A little pricey for just two drumsticks, but nonetheless quite flavourful.

Otak otak. Not your run-of-the-mill roadside otah! This one uses a special fish that is super soft and tender, and we considered getting more of it! Of course, our mandatory photos:

Yummeh. I'm blogging this in the morning, and feeling crazily hungry.

Didn't want to upload this picture cause I look super retarded... but it's so candid and nice!

 Team Clementi!

This is Pork, if I didn't remember wrongly. The presentation is quite horrendous but it actually tastes pretty good!

Our crispy pork. This is sweet, and tastes a little like softshell crab. Our HPB Scholar:

Oh gosh she looks like an ahma here. The angle is so bad, looks like she's balding.

Our gifts for her. The book is "What on Earth is Going On? A Crash Course in Current Affairs". A perfect book for someone who has trouble identifying UK/CHINA/SINGAPORE on the World Map. :)

And a photo of us to bring abroad, of course!

Darren made this amazing London City Food Guide, replete with maps, and places where Singaporean food can be found!

 Super cool :)

Another view of Wok & Barrel. We then decided to stroll down along Duxton Hill to a Patisserie that is quite renowned, but it was full... so we strolled down Duxton Road and found: The Pigeonhole Arts Cafe!

 Such a gorgeous chillout spot!

They had a lot of politics and literature classics... Such a good place to read and learn.

Us cosily in a beanbag corner.

I want a reading/studying area in my house that's just like that!

There was a bunch of women purely there to discuss about make-up. Interesting!  So you can order drinks and all... and I got a Cappucino at $5.

 Pek got a Tiramisu.

Judging by the looks of it... it sucks?

Us enjoying our atas drinks. Shall end with a candid shot:
Yay! Going to miss spending time together, just the four of us, in that squalid little apartment in Clementi =) That was such a fantastic experience... unforgettable.

All the best for University, Brenda! London is so beautiful...
